Unfortunately, Everysoft's
official EA Auction-Script User Forum as well as
the Script Add-On Database have been removed from Matt's Everyauction Site after a hacker incident had taken place early October 2006. As a result of this, Auctioneers using EA-based Scripts suddenly found themselfs cut off from the worldwide only relevant Source of technical Everyauction Script Knowledge.
To make sure that all this hard work is not fully beeing lost and forgotten, I have decided to release substantial portions of my huge EveryAuction 1.53 Script related Online Archive to Fellow Auctioneers looking for needed EA Addon Infos as well as for technical or trouble-shooting Information.
EveryAuction Source & Add-On based Software has been used by multiple Script Sellers such as Auction-Script, BidFlux, CodeGirl Classifieds, E-Zauctions, IScript, Makebid, OpenAuction, Ultimate Auction 3.xx., Webzstar, etc.
Frequently, I do receive E-Mails from Visitors asking for Access to the EveryAuction Member Section (EA Forum-Archive /
EA Add-On Codebase / EA Derivate Script Archive) but some People seem to be either unable or then unwilling to read and
comply with my Requirements. Some don't even care to identify themself in a proper way. Please do not expect me to reply to such
Inquiries, I just have no time for this.
I worked a long time (and still do) to republish the huge amount of Information collated in an cleaned and ordered manner. Therefore, I think to have a right to know who wants to see and use this Information. If you cannot agree with my Expectations, you can always use the Archive.org WayBack Machine and search for the Pages yourself.
I do verify Codebase Access Applications individually. Incomplete and/or fishy Access Applications will be denied without notice. Sorry for this, but I don't like hidden lurkers and suckers just to take whatever is available, never even thinking about giving anything back to the Community in return. I make sure to avoid such by keeping unknown as well as disturbing elements off this Site.
EveryAuction is the premiere free auction package that allows just about anyone to set up an online auction site. Since 1997, thousands of online auction sites worldwide have realized the advantages of our free, user supported, auction software package. Now released under the GNU General Public License (GPL), EveryAuction has been supported and advanced by hundreds of dedicated users. EveryAuction has been translated into dozens of languages and serves as the basis for dozens of third-party free auction products offered partly under the terms of the GPL. EveryAuction was the first, and is repeatedly proven still to be the most flexible free online auction software package.
Things You Need to Have
In order to set up an online auction classifieds site using EveryAuction, you will need a few basic things:
A place to host your site. This could be your own web server or a web host somewhere. Basically, all you need is access to a machine that supports CGI scripts
as well as Mod_Perl and has a web server running with Perl 5 or above installed.
Most ISPs and web hosts already have Perl installed. Before signing up with a new ISP or web host be sure to ask if they support Perl CGI scripts. Most free internet servers do not have what is needed! The below Web Hosts do NOT have all
Requirements to run Scripts.
So do not use them or other server Hosters offering $1.99/month hosting packages with 1000mb of space. Such Servers are geared for simple websites and do usually not offer sufficient performance & security.
If you are using your own server, you should go download Perl from www.perl.com
and install it. Perl is available for just about any platform from Linux to Macintosh to Windows. You need some space on the Server for the script to write auction data to the drive on the server. 200 MB of space is fine for a startup auction, but more may be necessary if your Site becomes popular.
You need Time & patience. A simple EveryAuction installation on a Unix/Linux Server only takes a few minutes. Make sure to Read Here if you need Installation help.
Although the basic EA 1.53 software is fully functional after you install it, it still is a quite insecure learning script. You will probably need to update and tweak the script to match the rest of your site. You might also find yourself wanting to try out some of the add-ons that are available for EveryAuction.
You should probably set aside some time to install and hack around with the script if you want your site to look original.
Please be aware, that EA Derivate Scripts are offered commercially trough some channels as well as on Ebay. Such Scripts have usually been enhanced or modified by different Peoples. Add-On's presented on this Site may not function without beeing adapted to such existing Scripts.
SECURITY NOTICE
Release 1.53 patches two security holes found in all prior versions of EveryAuction.
The first one allowed people to post some potentially malicious JavaScript or other server-side script code in item description.
The second hole allowed users to register using multiple comma-separated e-mail addresses, potentially allowing a user to spam multiple addresses with password notices, outbid notices, etc.
Because of these things, we strongly suggest you upgrade your
version of EveryAuction. Patches for EA 1.51 are available HERE or in the Add-On Section.
Please note: all item information is now stored with HTML stripped by default. Add-ons which deal with item descriptions must explicitly re-enable HTML in order for it to display.
Read this carefully before installing or using EveryAuction. Save the page as readme.txt
